Terms of Service

1. What this is
IotMentor is a chat-based mentor for planning embedded/IoT builds, operated by Mahdi Mansouri, based in Sweden. By using it you agree to these terms. You must be at least 16 to use it. The chat is only available in countries where our AI provider offers its service.
2. Not professional or safety-critical advice
The mentor gives general engineering guidance for hobby and prototype projects. It is not professional engineering, medical, legal or financial advice, and must not be relied on for safety-critical, medical, automotive or industrial systems. Anything involving mains voltage, batteries at scale, or risk to people is your responsibility to verify with a qualified professional. Radio bands, power limits and approval rules (for example for LoRa) differ by country — check your local rules before transmitting with, or selling, a device.
3. Accounts
Logging in is passwordless: you enter your email and we send a one-time sign-in link. You're responsible for keeping access to that email secure and for activity under your account, and should tell us if you suspect unauthorised access. Chat never requires an account — logging in only unlocks saving and resuming projects. What an account stores is set out in the Privacy Policy.
4. Acceptable use
Don't use the service to break the law, to attack or overload the service, to attempt to extract its underlying prompts or models, or to generate content that harms others. We apply rate limits and a bot check to keep it usable for everyone. Don't use the chat from a country where it isn't offered, or try to get around that limit.
5. Free tier and future paid tiers
The service is currently free, with usage caps that protect its running costs. We may introduce paid tiers later. If we do, existing free functionality won't be silently removed without notice.
6. Intellectual property
The mentor's engine, prompts, site and content are ours. The build plans you produce with it are yours — use them freely, including commercially. You keep ownership of what you type in and of the projects you save.
7. No warranty
The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. AI-generated advice can be wrong, out of date, or unsuitable for your situation — check component choices, prices and availability yourself before spending money.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, damaged hardware, lost time, or costs arising from acting on the mentor's output. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
9. Termination
You can delete your account at any time from the chat interface ("Delete my account") — instant and permanent, and it deletes every project you've saved. Before deleting, you can take a copy of everything via "Download my data". We may suspend accounts that violate section 4, with notice where practical.
10. Governing law
Swedish law applies, and the Swedish courts have jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
11. Changes
We'll post material changes here with an updated date, and email registered users when a change materially affects them.
